Forty days and forty nights remain until the mid-term elections and according to most main stream political pundits the storm is coming. A hard rain is gonna fall for the hapless Democrats that will certainly wash them from the majority and level any progress that has been realized in the last 20 months. So what the hell are we to do? Throw our hands up in the air and spout about how the system is too corrupt, too ingrained, too twisted by cash to be worth engaging?
Look at it this way, if you were minding your own business and witnessed someone stealing an elderly woman’s purse, would you intervene? If you were minding your own business and saw a mugging in progress what would your reaction be? If you saw a gang rape taking place would you hope that someone else had called the police or would you turn your back and think “I have my own problems”.
Well guess what folks, the political system is being gang raped by people who have become so morally corrupt that they will say anything and do anything to enrich those that fund their campains and dictate their positions.
There is no looking away, there is no avoiding involvement, there is no place to run and no place to hide. The flood is coming and ignoring it won’t do a damn bit of good and likely will result is considerable harm.
What to do?
Get involved.
Attend a meeting of Organizing for America.
Volunteer to phone bank.
Talk to your freinds and neighbors about the stakes.
Vote.
Encourage voting.
Enable someone else to vote.
We need to build an Ark, an Ark of concerned citizens that recognize that even though we haven’t realized everything we had hoped at the begining of this administration the alternative isn’t just worse it is horrific.
We have forty days and forty nights, time to get building cause the storm is coming and if we are going to preserve government of, by and for the people, we are going to have to create a safe place from those who would gladly drown our government in a bathtub.
Put away your ego.
Pull on your gloves.
Get to work.
