It has been a rather interesting week for a relatively new voice in the political blogosphere. An open letter that I posted to Jane Hamsher attracted a bit more attention than my blog would normally elicit. The saga is here but that is not the point of this post.
After specifically addressing Jane Hamsher’s request to justify my position she was completely silent. After specifically addressing Jane Hamsher’s request to justify my position her supporters, who’s comments I published without prejudice, were silent. I am not surprised at the lack of response, merely disappointed. Fair enough, done.
One last point for Jane before I disengage…
Is there a single individual on the left of the political spectrum that Grover Norquist would not join you to condemn? I’m not joking, given the slightest chance of advantage would not Mr. Norquist sign on to the destruction of anyone even remotely affiliated with the Democratic party?
You are fighting for all the right things in all the wrong ways ultimately you do less for the progressive cause than you do for the art of tiburon leaping.

Awww jeeezzz. I just realized what I missed while bizzy with fam from out-of-town!
Ralph – not to pander, but move over and make room for me on your soapbox. Reading through from the beginning, you laid out an excellent statement/argument to Ms. Hamsher. For once since the Christmas Eve passage, feel like I'm not alone in my opinion on this matter. I can hardly open my mouth in defense of the bill, as imperfect as it really is, without someone calling me a name, from "traitor" to "stupid blond". When will WE understand what you are saying here? Evolution builds a stronger foundation than revolution (although nary a teabagger will agree with that). This bill, like all others, will evolve. Each step of it's evolution it will come just a little closer. There is no perfection – as soon as perfection is considered defined, it must and does change.
You're on it my friend. You're ON IT.
Once she realized she can't just dismiss you as being funded by PhRMA and had to really debate the points you raised, I suspect she lost her desire to engage any further. Anything to avoid admitting the existence of the color gray, I think!
A fine job, sir.
The sadder part is, she won't be able to work with Bernie Sanders or any of the other progs she burned bridges with the past two weeks on any other issue we progressives see as vital. Her traffic, I'm sure, is way up, but lots of people drive by a car wreck. When they leave they're also taking their contributions elsewhere. She's got a lonely future ahead of her. As I tried for several years to teach my now EX husband, sometimes being kind to those close to you is really smarter than being right. Really.
